Michael Kramer and Andrea Wood

Andrea Wood and Michael Kramer

Michael Kramer enjoys a busy schedule working as both guitarist and educator throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area. In addition to his musical collaborations with Andrea Wood, he has performed with Jeff Carlisi of 38 Special, Christine Ohlman of the Saturday Night Live Band, and Derek St. Holmes of the Ted Nugent Band. As a student of great jazz composers including Ellington, Waller, Monk, Shorter, and Golson, Michael won the Jonathan T Deutsch award for young jazz composers in 2007. This spring Michael expects to graduate from the University of Maryland in College Park with a BA in jazz studies.

Andrea Wood is a passionate and soulful singer from Washington DC. Having spent a period of her childhood living in the Czech Republic, cultural and environmental diversity has had a great influence on her musical background and development. In addition to appearing at the Kennedy Center, Constitution Hall and the Smithsonian, Andrea has performed at the JVC Jazz Festival in New York City and was awarded honorable mention at the Lional Hampton Jazz Festival. She has worked with notable musicians Keter Betts, Larry Willis, Rodney Whitaker, Wessel Anderson, Dianne Reeves, Geoffrey Keezer, Kevin Mahogany, Butch Warren and Denise Graves.

Currently, Andrea and Michael can be seen on Friday nights at The Tasting Room in Friendship Heights.
